1. Overview & Legal Framework

At UPSC AI (upsc.ai), we take data privacy and intellectual property with the utmost seriousness. This Privacy Policy is a legally binding document governing your use of our website, AI evaluation engines, and digital study tools.

We operate in full compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act, 2023), the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the IT (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011 of the Republic of India.

2. Specific Data We Collect & Store

To deliver 60-second answer checking, personalized study schedules, diagnostic heatmaps, and continuous AI assistance, UPSC AI securely collects and stores the following categories of information:

A. AI Query & Conversational Chat Logs

Search Prompts, Doubt Solver Questions & Revision History

When you submit queries through UPSC AI Search, the Instant Doubt Solver, or our study assistants, we store the text prompts, search parameters, book references accessed, and generated AI responses. This enables you to review past explanations, save revision notes, and allows our systems to maintain context across continuous study sessions.

B. Handwritten Mains Answer Copies & OCR Transcripts

Uploaded Answer Copies, Evaluation Marks & Rubric Scorecards

When you upload handwritten answer copies (via photos, scans, or PDFs) to our Mains Evaluator, we securely store the uploaded image files, optical character recognition (OCR) text extractions, rubric breakdowns across GS 1–4 and Essay, marks awarded, and structural suggestions. These files are stored in your private dashboard to track your marks trajectory over time.

Note: OCR scanning is conducted purely for academic text recognition. We do not extract, store, or process biometric handwriting signatures or identity profiles.

C. Learning Progress, Time Spent & Topic Mastery

Active Time Tracking, NCERTs, Syllabus Topics & MCQ Solving

To provide accurate diagnostic progress tracking, our applications record:

  • Time Spent: Active time spent studying current affairs, reading notes, solving MCQs, or analyzing test explanations.
  • Topic & Course Mastery: Specific NCERT chapters, standard book modules (e.g., Laxmikanth, Spectrum, Ramesh Singh), and syllabus topics marked completed or in-progress.
  • MCQ Solving Behavior: Questions attempted, correct/incorrect choices, elimination heuristics, time per question, and negative marking leakage patterns across 480+ micro-topics.
  • Study Planner Logs: Daily completed targets, revision streaks, and backlog recalibrations.
D. Account & Profile Information

User Details & Subscription Status

Your registered name, email address, optional contact number, target exam year, optional subject preferences, and subscription access level.

E. Technical Telemetry, Device Data & Cookies

IP Addresses, Session Tokens & Crash Telemetry

Standard server logs, browser user-agents, IP addresses, device types, and essential session cookies are collected to maintain secure logins, monitor API uptime, diagnose crashes, and prevent unauthorized multi-device scraping or brute-force attacks.
